David Diener“O” Coordinator and Running Backs
David Diener enters his seventh year of coaching for the Blazers as the Offensive Coordinator and Running backs Coach. This is Dave’s first coaching job coming out of college, and has a coaching record of 28-32. He is the son of the Head Coach for the Blazer’s Marvin Diener. Dave started pulling cords for his dad on the sidelines at age 10 and played for him at Salina Central High School from 2003-2005.
Before taking this job Dave played 2 years as an Inside Linebacker for William Jewell College and played 3 years as an Inside Linebacker for Emporia State University. In his 2 years at Jewell, Dave recorded over 150 tackles and received All-League Honors both years. Dave Graduated from William Jewell in May of 2011 with a teaching degree. He is certified to teach K-12 Health, K-12 Physical Education, and 6-12 Math.
Dave grew up in Salina Kansas, and in high school he started 3 years for Salina Central as a Linebacker. During that time SCHS had a record of 34-2 with an undefeated State Championship his senior year. Dave received All-League Honors all three years, All-State Honors his last two years, and Top 11 All-Class All-State Honors senior year. He is also the school’s All-Time Leading Tackler.
Dave is entering his seventh year of teaching, and his sixth year as a Health and Athletic Development Teacher at Gardner Edgerton High School.
Dave is married to Paula Diener and has two daughters Brianna age 3 and Troian who was born in June of this year. Paula is an Engagement Leader at Cerner and enjoys photography in her spare time. Brianna is an active 3 year old who loves outdoors and soccer. Dave is the son on Marvin and Lessie Diener, who are both teachers and coaches and has a 22 year old sister who is the Feature Twirler for the Oklahoma State University Cowboys. Dave enjoys spending time playing with his young girls and being a husband and dad, and also enjoys running, reading, and golfing.
